  5. Winsock RCP/RSH are the Windows Sockets versions of two utilities normally
  6. found on Unix systems.  They work with any Windows Sockets compatible TCP/IP
  7. stack, including Microsoft's TCP/IP for Windows for Workgroups.
  8.  
  9. Winsock RCP, or Remote Copy, copies files from your Windows PC to a Unix
  10. system, from a Unix system to your PC, or between two Unix systems.  You can
  11. copy individual files or recusively copy entire directory trees.
  12.  
  13. Winsock RSH, or Remote Shell, runs a specified command on the Unix system.
  14. Any output of the command can be displayed in a window or can be directed to
  15. a file.
  16.  
  17. Winsock RCP/RSH are command-line oriented programs, but do require Windows
  18. to run.  You can use them directly from the standard Windows Program Manager
  19. File/Run menu selection.
  20.  
  21. You can also use the more Windows-oriented interface provided with this
  22. package instead of the command line interface.  Included are VRCP (Visual RCP)
  23. and VRSH (Visual RSH).  These are simple interfaces that prompt you for the
  24. required parameters to Winsock RCP/RSH.

  26. The command-line oriented RCP/RSH are useful from the Program Manager's
  27. File/Run menu selection, 3rd party Windows batch file interpreters, and 3rd
  28. party Windows command line interfaces.  Also, software developers may wish to
  29. call them from within their own programs.  The registered version provides a
  30. special "minimize" option to make this more transparent to users of your
  31. software.

  33. Winsock RCP/RSH cannot be run from the MS-DOS command line (COMMAND.COM).
  34. They are Windows programs.
  35.  
  36. To experiment with Winsock RCP/RSH, use PKUNZIP to uncompress the
  37. distribution file.
  38.  
  39. Then use File/Run from the Windows Program Manager menu.  Enter the drive and
  40. directory name that contains the uncompressed files, followed by "SETUP".

  42. For example, if you uncompressed Winsock RCP/RSH into the directory C:\RCP,
  43. type C:\RCP\SETUP.

  45. Select a target drive and directory to install to and click on OK.  It should
  46. NOT be the same directory in which you uncompressed the distribution file.

  48. The Winsock RCP/RSH group will be created.  Icons will be in this group for
  49. Visual RCP and Visual RSH, along with options to view/print the order form and
  50. the manual for using RCP/RSH from the command line.

  56. Also available from Denicomp Systems is Winsock RSHD, a Remote Shell Daemon
  57. (Server) for Windows Sockets.
  58.  
  59. Winsock RSHD accepts command requests from remote hosts (Unix or other PC's)
  60. via the standard "rsh" command and executes them on the PC running Winsock
  61. RSHD.  It also allows file copying to and from the PC via the standard "rcp"
  62. command. A special "SendKeys" extension allows remote control of Windows
  63. programs through the standard "rsh" command, even from Unix.  Security can
  64. also be enforced.

  70. For Windows programmers, also available is Winsock RCMD.DLL and Winsock RCP.DLL,
  71. which are Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL) callable from almost any language that
  72. allows DLL calls, such as C, C++, or Visual Basic.

  74. Winsock RCMD.DLL provides a function similar to the Berkeley Sockets "rcmd"
  75. function for Windows Sockets.  This provides the ability to initiate Unix
  76. commands from within your Windows program and capture any output from that
  77. command.

  79. Winsock RCP.DLL provides a function that allows you to copy files to and from
  80. remote hosts from within your programs, just like the Winsock RCP command.
  81. It also includes the recusive copy capability.

  83. Example programs are provided for both C and Visual Basic.

  86. SHAREWARE
  87. ---------

  89. Winsock RCP/RSH, Winsock RCMD.DLL, and Winsock RCP.DLL are shareware.  You
  90. can try them for thirty (30) days.  If you find them useful, you can register
  91. them using the order form included.  If you do not wish to register them,
  92. delete them from your hard disk or pass them along to a friend who may find
  93. them useful.

  95. By registering, you will receive the latest version of the product,
  96. printed documentation, and support via US Mail or Compuserve.

  98. The shareware version of each product is fully functional except for the
  99. following:
  100.  
  101.    * You must click on the OK button in the message window each time you use
  102.      them.  This is to remind you that you are using an unregistered version.
  103.  
  104.    * The Minimize on Startup option (-m) on Winsock RCP/RSH is disabled.

  107. PRICING
  108. -------

  110. An order form is provided in this package.  If for some reason it is not there,
  111. Winsock RCP/RSH can be registered for $29.95 in U.S. Dollars.  The package
  112. includes both utilties; it is NOT $29.95 for each.  Please send a check or
  113. money order drawn on a U.S. bank.  Credit card orders are not currently
  114. accepted, however you may register through Compuserve's registration service.

  116. Winsock RCMD.DLL is available for $29.95.  Winsock RCP.DLL is available for
  117. $34.95.  This includes a license to distribute them with your product without
  118. royalties or any other fees.

  138. When registering via Compuserve, if you would like the product to be distributed
  139. to you via Compuserve's electronic mail, please send a message stating this to
  140. 71612,2333 after you have registered (Compuserve's on-line registration does
  141. not currently provide this as an option).  The package(s) you select will be
  142. sent to your Compuserve mailbox.  However, you will not receive a printed manual
  143. when using this method.  You can print the manual included in the distribution
  144. on your printer.

  147. MULTIPLE USER LICENSING

  150. When Winsock RCP/RSH are registered, they are licensed for use by ONE
  151. user at a time.  Special multiple license pricing options are also available.
  152. Pricing is on a per-user basis.  For 2-10 users, $25 per user.  For 11-20 users,
  153. $23 per user.  For over 20 users, $20 per user.

  155. Payments for multiple user licenses must be sent via mail.  The Compuserve
  156. online registration system is not set up to handle multiple pricing levels.
